The Kungfu Froggy: A Harmonious Blend of Ancient and Modern Design

Xiaoguo Rui's Award-Winning Restaurant Design

Xiaoguo Rui, along with team members Bin Shen, Pengfei Zheng, and Zhen Fang, embarked on a unique design journey in June 2019. The project, based in Nanning, was completed in October of the same year. The Kungfu Froggy, a restaurant spanning 300 square meters, is a testament to the team's innovative design approach and meticulous attention to detail.

The inspiration for the design stemmed from the concept of a "garden". Xiaoguo Rui used a diverse design language to transform abstract artistic expression into tangible spatial images. The design integrates traditional elements such as bamboo and stone with modern materials like glass, terrazzo, and stainless steel chrome plates, creating a harmonious blend of ancient and modern times.

The unique properties of the design lie in its artistic structure and the focus on the comfort and experience of the restaurant's patrons. The dining area is designed with smooth moving lines and functional spaces, catering to the diverse dining needs of customers. This not only enhances the utilization of space but also maximizes its value.

The design realization technology is another noteworthy aspect. The designer used a sequential viewing rhythm to annotate the artistic context of the architecture. Large-scale floor-to-ceiling glass was used for effective space division, interspersed with metal elements for a blend of traditional aesthetics and modern fashion.

The design faced challenges in brand differentiation positioning and creating a unique brand image. However, the team overcame these challenges, resulting in a design that represents the spiritual orientation and aesthetic taste of modern people. The transition of landscape and materials interprets the collision between man-made and nature, and the frog shape at the door head adds a touch of novelty.

The Kungfu Froggy stands as a testament to Xiaoguo Rui's innovative design approach, a harmonious blend of ancient and modern, tradition and innovation. It is a deserving winner of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
